There are nowadays several flight companies serving the airport in Managua but to enter the country you will have to make a stopover in Houston, Texas or Miami in the United States. Be aware that there is a $25 airport fee leaving the country and that this is only accepted in cash.

If you enter the country from Honduras there are three legal border posts, Guasale, El Espino and Las Manos. Coming from Costa Rica you can cross the border at Penas Blancas, by the Pan-American Highway or in Los Chiles that you reach after a one hour boat ride from San Carlos. If you arrive by land, make sure that you get both exit and entrance stamps in your passport to avoid problems at your next border crossing.
