Jinotega
The department of Jinotega is a wild and lush mountain country consisting of hundreds of small villages and their inhabitants living from orange, corn, plantain and vegetable farming as well as cattle breeding. The region is characterized by open spaces combined with virgin forest, freshwater lagoons and beautiful rivers. The capital of the department, Jinotega, is also called "La Ciudad de las Brumas" (The city of Mists) and is a prosperous working town and trading center. The altitude is 1000 meters, which gives the city a pleasant climate and the people are known for being friendly and hospitable. |
